Sesobel - Our Programs - family-joint action
A big deal of support is realized:
1- Social intervention with individuals:
Every family member can be accompanied. The systematic approach we're making means we consider every member part of a whole system that is influential to others.
2- Social intervention with families:
What are familial dynamics? The objective is to maintain balance and harmony lest they be disrupted.
3- Social intervention with groups:
Unlike intervention with individuals and families, which address specific issues, social intervention with groups addresses common issues.
It might take the form of:
* Annual educational and developmental parental groups. They are concerned with children's illnesses (like neuromuscular ones) or family conditions (like depression).
In that case, parents will discover that they are not alone and that are going through similar experiences.
The work is done after children are received and the participation of families in all monthly meetings (October to June) is very important.
It is strongly recommended that fathers be present.
* Family-guidance groups are organized once a month.
These groups will be available for families whenever they wish. No annual commitment is necessary.
The discussion subjects pertain to: "Free expression" to promote sharing and mutual support among parents; "Adolescence" (motor or intellectual disability, autism and severe mental illness) to inform families on the signs of adolescence and to explain to them how to deal with that;"Relaxation” for mothers; “Professional training of mothers" (handicrafts)
