Who are we?

Because disability affects the lives of children and their entire families, SESOBEL’s Family Reception Service  is there for them, willing to offer them what’s best.

Concerned public:

We welcome all children with disability below 6 years of age, in addition to little older children with evolving neuromuscular diseases since such diseases usually show a little later than others (8-9 years on average).

How are families received?

  • Family request: Whenever any family makes a request, an interview is set to study their needs and give them all necessary information.
  •  The troubleshooting group: commences work as soon as any family requests help in order to guide and accompany children and their families ahead of their first interview at SESOBEL. The group is also meant to respond to any emergencies children might face while they wait.
  • The first meeting: allows accurate recognition of any family’s expectations and examines children’s medical history. During the meeting, consultations are conducted with a SESOBEL doctor and a nurse.
  •  Rehabilitation assessment: Our professionals (physiotherapists, respiratory physiotherapists, psychomotor therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, in addition to psychologists) conduct a series of assessments as necessary.
  • Case Summary: Bringing together the entire team concerned, we study the outcome of assessments, as well as the expectations of families. Then we devise medical rehabilitation and social individualized plans
  • Meeting families: to inform them of the plans made and allowing them to choose whether to proceed or not
  • We collaborate with all the medical and Rehabilitation programme units :  (Physiotherapist, respiratory physiotherapists, psychomotor therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, in addition to psychologists), as well as 55 volunteering doctors who help SESOBEL to sustain great health quality.
